The Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC) has refuted claims that its ‘Operation Sanity’ has been postponed, emphasizing that the initiative is unrelated to the Central Government’s ‘Operation Clear the Roads.’

“Operation Sanity’ is not postponed! In addition, KMC’s Operation Sanity has nothing in common with the Central Government’s ‘Operation Clear the Roads’. The commencement of both operations is a coincidence and are not interrelated. The ‘operation sanity’ has nothing to do With street vendors, the operation is about enforcing council By-Laws enacted in 2020 by the Kanifing Municipal Council,” KMC clarified in a statement.

The Council also announced that Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda will host a press conference on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the KMC Town Hall. The event will officially launch the operation and outline its benefits to the community.

“We urge all media houses to cease and desist from the publication of any unsanctioned and likely misleading information on the operation until the Mayor’s Press Conference tomorrow, which will serve as the official communiqué on the initiative,” the statement concluded.
