Pa Ceesay, the CEO of Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC), has confirmed that an investigation is underway concerning Lamin Camara, who holds the role of Anti-Littering Manager at KMC, over allegations of corruption.

The CEO, speaking to Kerr Fatou, stressed that these allegations are yet to be substantiated, emphasizing, “These are allegations against him and have not been confirmed, but we will continue the investigation next Tuesday and Wednesday,”

A document obtained by Kerr Fatou reveals that the anti-littering manager is being accused of accepting payments that were not properly deposited into the council’s accounts. Specifically, he is alleged to have collected fees from businesses for anti-littering services but failed to remit the full amounts to the council. In some instances, the manager issued receipts for amounts lower than what was received. For example, a payment of D15,000 was acknowledged with a D10,000 receipt, and a payment of D25,000 was recorded as D22,000.

Furthermore, there were cases where no receipts were issued at all. The manager has been formally cautioned to cease this practice and has been reassigned to a new role.

Additionally, the KMC has terminated the employment of twenty-four workers from Mbalit due to issues related to punctuality, as confirmed by Pa Ceesay, the CEO of KMC.
