On Thursday, Kashma Gambia Money Transfer and the Gambia Transport Union launched the KashCab initiative at the Westfield Monument.
KashCab, a mobile payments platform, will introduce and promote digital payments within vehicles in The Gambia. This will ease the current burden on both drivers and passengers.
The KashCab campaign is specially designed in collaboration with The General Transport Union of The Gambia. It addresses the challenges faced by consumers with respect to having to find the exact change in order to board local route commercial vehicles. The campaign also promotes the use of digital payments, which can help to improve financial inclusion and reduce fraud.
At the launching ceremony, the Managing Director of Kashma, Kebba Ceesay, said that since the recent increase in transportation fares, they have received many complaints from passengers about the lack of change.
“We are passionate about KashCab and are excited to be addressing challenges in The Gambia and providing solutions. For those of you who don’t know, Kashma is a Gambian company that specializes in digital payments. We are a team of Gambians who are committed to making a positive impact on our country. We focus on providing digital solutions to our clients and customers to make their lives easier.
“The overall vision for KashMa is financial inclusion and KashCab is one of the many initiatives that we will be doing to further increase the digital economy within the country,” he said.

Alpha Ousman Jallow, the president of the Gambia Consumer Protection Consortium, echoed Ceesay’s sentiments. He said that Kashma is a Gambian brand that is committed to providing quality products and services to the people of the Gambia.
