Mama Kandeh, the Secretary-General and Party Leader of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), has urged all his supporters to vote for the United Democratic Party (UDP) candidates in all regions except for those where the GDC is fielding candidates and in the west coast region where they endorsed PPP’s, Jainaba Bah.
“I am urging all those who believe in GDC and Mama Kandeh to give their votes to the UDP candidates in all the areas we didn’t put up candidates. Except West Coast Region where we endorsed Jainaba Bah,” the GDC leader made the announcement in a WhatsApp audio.
In the same audio recording, Hon. Mama Kandeh denied the allegation made by Presidential Adviser Saihou Mballow that his party, the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), had allied with the opposition United Democratic Party (UDP).
“Saihou Mballow of the National People’s Party (NPP) has falsely claimed that the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) has joined forces with the United Democratic Party (UDP). This is a lie, as there is no evidence to support this claim. I, as the leader of the GDC, can confirm that we have not signed any alliance with the UDP.
The NPP should play fair politics and stop spreading falsehoods. They should talk to the people and be honest with them. Lying is not worth it.” he said.
The Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) leader, Mama Kandeh, went on to insist that his party is not dead and that some people still believe in him and the GDC.
“Saihou Mballow agreed with the CepRass survey when he was questioned about it but he says everything has changed in recent days. He said this is because they have talked to the GDC supporters. In general, GDC is alive because they always claim GDC is dead. Their goal is to destroy GDC so that no one will mention GDC again. If he says they have talked to the GDC supporters to back them, that clearly means GDC is still alive. We thank God for that. This party is blessed by God and it will never fail. I Mama Kandeh, I don’t own anyone, I didn’t bribe anyone, they are not my servants but people still trust the party and Mama Kandeh.” he concluded.
The Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) is supporting all the United Democratic Party candidates across the country except in areas where they put up candidates and Brikama where the GDC endorsed the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) candidate, Jainaba Bah.
