The Kairaba Conservation and Leadership Organization (KairaCLO), under the esteemed patronage of Her Excellency Lady Chilel Jawara, is poised to host the Mothers of the Nation Tree Planting Ceremony tomorrow.
Thursday’s press conference at the Keur Jula GCCI Complex in Kotu saw the presence of prominent KairaCLO members, including Almami Fanding Taal, Chairperson; Ramzia Diab Ghanim, Vice Chairperson; Isatou Gillen, Trustee; and Abdoulie Danso, Trustee.
This ceremony is a significant event in the Kairaba Gambia Climate Action and Conservation Week, aimed at raising awareness about environmental conservation and the urgent need to combat climate change. In his opening remarks, Almami Fanding Taal emphasized the importance of tomorrow’s event at McCarthy Square.
“Tomorrow, the Kairaba conservation and leadership organization, or KairaCLO will organize the Mothers of the Nations tree planting ceremony at the McCartney Square. This is also part of the centenary celebrations of Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara, the first president of the Gambia. The idea is that we celebrate the Fathers of the nation, But it’s also very important to remember that there is no nation without mothers. The effort of KairaCLO is to mainstream gender in climate action in the fight against climate change. And we thought it was properly fitting that the former First Lady, Lady Chilel Jawara who is also the chief patron of KairaCLO, would lead distinguished ladies to plant some trees in Banjul as an appreciation of Sir Dawda’s centenary,” Almami Fanding Taal, Chairperson of KairaCLO said.
Ramzia Diab Ghanim, Vice Chairperson of KairaCLO, highlighted the organization’s dedication to conservation and the need for collective efforts to address environmental challenges.
“Tomorrow will be a very important day for mothers, for children and in recognition of Sir Dawda’s efforts and the Banjul Declaration since 1977. It will be graced by these women of substance, and we’re expecting that everybody will be there to grace the occasion and plant as many trees as we can,” she said.
Following the press conference at the Keur Jula GCCI Complex, the Mothers of the Nation Tree Planting Ceremony will begin at McCarthy Square on Friday as part of the Kairaba Gambia Climate Action and Conservation Week. The event promises to be a meaningful and impactful initiative to raise awareness about environmental conservation and inspire action to protect our planet.
