Janneh Commission: People with notices of adverse findings urged to see Attorney General

The Justice Ministry is urging people who have received a notice of adverse findings in connection to the work of the Janneh Commission to contact the Minister Abubacarr Tambadou or the Solicitor General Cherno Marenah.

In a press release on Monday, May 27, the Ministry said people can contact the Solicitor General or the Attorney General early June.

“Following the conclusion of the work of the Commission of Inquiry into the financial activities of public bodies, enterprises and offices as regards their dealings with former President Yahya Jammeh, a number of adverse findings have been made by the Commission against certain individuals and companies who have been notified of these adverse findings,” stated the press release.

“While the Government continues to review the Commission’s voluminous report, the Attorney General wishes to invite all those who have received notices of adverse findings from the Commission to contact the Solicitor General or the Attorney General at the Ministry of Justice, in person or through authorized 3rd parties, between 3rd and 8th June 2019.”

The Janneh Commission launched an inquiry into the financial dealings of country’s former dictator Yahya Jammeh and his associates.

The Commission has found an incredible level of theft of public resources and its findings have been submitted to the president Adama Barrow on March 29.

During the course of the investigation, several Gambians including top business people with strong connection to his businesses have been identified as his associates.
