Kerr Fatou Media has learned from reliable sources that Sheriffo Sonko, the Chairman of Brikama Area Council will be withdrawing his name from the National People’s Party’s list of potential candidates for the upcoming party primary to select a party candidate for the May 20th chairmanship elections, effectively ending his bid for re-election.
Our source disclosed that the hastily convened National People’s Party press conference slated to take place at Brikama Area Council on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023, will avail Mr. Sonko the opportunity to lay out his accomplishments and gracefully announce his exit from the race. The source went on to say that Chairman Sonko has been adequately taken care of.
Mr. Sonko was elected to his current position on a UDP ticket after the change in government in 2017. He has since aligned with the National People’s Party. We were unable to reach Chairman Sonko on the phone at this time to confirm.
