The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Seedy Muckarr Touray, has announced that the investigation into the discovery of unburnt cocaine blocks has been completed and forwarded to the Solicitor General for legal advice.
IGP Touray disclosed this development during an interview on West Coast Radio on Tuesday, where he provided updates on several ongoing investigations.
“The discovery of the unburnt cocaine blocks, we’ve finished with this investigation, and we have sent it to the office of the Solicitor General for legal advice. Audit investigation on Edward Francis, Small Teaching Hospital on a scale of 10, I will say we are almost eight out of 10 on this investigation. Audit investigation on IEC, Audit Investigation on Banjul City Council, National Assembly Resolution on COVID-19 response phase one and two. Phase one and two are completed equally, sent to the office of the Solicitor General, the legal office for advice,” IGP Touray Reveals.
The police chief further revealed progress on other high-profile cases, including investigations into the National Assembly’s resolutions on the 2019 audited accounts of the government, public agencies, municipal councils, and area councils.
He also highlighted the investigation into the petition from staff members of the Gambia Tourism Board.
“The National Assembly resolution on the petition from the concerned staff of the GT board and then it goes from seven all the way to nine. We’ve also dealt with the Kerr Galo incident where seven people were electrocuted. That one also we are done with the investigation, and we have sent it to the legal office.” He said.
Additionally, IGP Touray shared updates on the investigation into the rating unit at the Gambia Ports Authority.
“The rating unit at the Gambia Ports Authority, we are done with this one also, in fact, happy to report that the recommendations from the investigation, when they were sent to the legal office, have been accepted everything, so we’re now waiting to send them to the courts,” IGP Touray said.
