The Independent Electoral Commission has registered 856, 719 voters in 5 weeks, according to the commission’s dispatch dated 5th July.
For this week [week 5], a total number of 136, 325 voters have been registered; 77, 097 are females and 59, 228 are males.
In Week 4, the commission registered 163, 628 voters; 93, 326 are females and 70, 302 are males.
In Week 3, it registered 180, 674 voters; 103, 367 are females and 77, 307 are males.
In Week 2, 184, 583 voters have been registered; 104, 951 are females, and 79, 632 are males.
In Week 1, the commission registered 191, 509 voters; 109, 675 are females and 81, 834 are males.
In 5 weeks, 488, 416 females and 368, 303 males have been registered; pushing the grand tally to 856, 719 voters.
The IEC targets at least 1 million voters for the 4thDecember presidential election. That means the commission must register 143, 281 voters in less than a week to meet its target.
The Independent Electoral Commission reminds all Gambians that the ongoing general registration will end on 11th July 2021 [Sunday].
