Hon. Abdou Sowe, the Member of the National Assembly for Kombo East Constituency, has expressed his discontent with being branded a betrayer by certain supporters of his former political party, the United Democratic Party (UDP), following his recent resignation.
“My expectations from NPP include respect, and I won’t tolerate what I rejected from UDP. This stance means I’ll advocate not only for NPP but also for UDP, the party I left, and even APRC, along with everyone else. People might not fully grasp how I secured my election victory, but I, Abdou, do. It’s not about pleasing someone in the Pipeline; it’s about my unwavering commitment to Kombo East, my birthplace. I’ll continue to champion the interests of the people of Kombo East, regardless of whether others agree, because that’s what the law mandates. If my actions are perceived as betrayal, then those labeling me as such are the true betrayers,” declared Honorable Sowe.
Characterizing himself as a person of integrity, Hon. Sowe asserted that his contributions to his former party were unparalleled in the Kombo East Constituency.
“I am a man of integrity. No one has matched my contributions to them (UDP) in Kombo East. I sacrificed for them, but they failed to appreciate it and acknowledge it. They diminished me and expected me to acquiesce. They primed their weapons and asked a person of integrity to await their strike. Should I wait for that? I will align with the government and labor for Kombo East, which is the solution to our challenges. I am beholden to no one and will never be subservient to anyone. I have never sought political favors. I turned them down three times when they came because I foresaw their conduct. I foresaw this outcome; I have witnesses. I foresaw this day,” he declared.
