High Court grants Touray, FJC bail on TRRC witness interference charge

The High Court of The Gambia has granted bail two former top Government officials charged with interference of a potential witness before the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission on Tuesday.

Yankuba Touray, a former state minister and member of the Armed Forces Provisional Ruling Council, and Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay, a former speaker of the National Assembly, have both pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The two were earlier arraigned before a magistrate court in Kanifing on similar charges but they denied any wrongdoing. Their charges are in relation to the testimony before the Commission of Alagie Kanyi who said the two have called him and asked him not to take the Commission seriously.

Kanyi who later appeared before the Commission have revealed information that implicated Touray in about four executions.
