GPU executive debate ahead of congress

GPU president Emil Touray

A coalition of media organisations, consisting the Network of Freelance Journalists, Young Journalists Association, Women Journalists Association, University of The Gambia School of Journalism Students’ Union and the Gambia Press Union School of Journalism Students, is setup to facilitate a debate of candidates wishing to contest in the upcoming Gambia Press Union elective congress slated for 31st August, 2018.

This debate is slated for Wednesday 29th August, 2018 at the University of The Gambia School of Journalism and Digital Campus by 4:00pm.

The initiative is intended to avail candidates sufficient time to communicate their key campaign agenda to members of the Union before the congress date. The platform will also allow voters to examine the competence of the candidates and make informed choices.

The idea is expected to add the quality of governance and standard to the Union’s electoral process.

Media practitioners – both members and non-members of the GPU- are invited to attend this very important event.
