Ebrima G. Sankareh, the spokesperson for the Gambian government, has confirmed that President Adama Barrow’s administration has lifted the ban on several individuals, including Njogu Lamin Bah, Amadou A. Colley, Momodou Sabally, Basiru A.O. Njie, and Sirra Wally Ndow Njie.
“I was able to confirm beyond a shadow of doubt that the president pursuant to Section 20 subsection 3 of the Commission of Enquiry Act, the president has commuted the whole ban imposed on the following persons from holding public office. They are Njogu Lamin Bah, Amadou A. Colley, Momodou Sabally, Basiru A.O. Njie, and Sirra Wally Ndow Njie. This was done in Banjul, January 22nd, 2024. The law governing this, to be specific, is amnesty for person ban from holding public office order 2024 and is premised on the Commission of enquiry act 2001,” he said.
These remarks were made by Ebrima G. Sankareh, during an interview on West Coast Radio’s coffee time program.
