Government Halts Document Authentication Due to Capacity Issues

The Gambia government has announced a temporary halt to the authentication of documents. This suspension is attributed to current limitations in capacity and a comprehensive overhaul of the authentication procedures.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad wishes to inform the general public that the authentication of documents will be temporarily suspended until further notice. This is necessitated by the lack of capacity and the ongoing reorganization of the procedure for the authentication of documents. Upon the completion of this reorganization process, the public will be informed through this medium of the resumption of authentication of documents,” MoFA said.

Additionally, the government has outlined a fee schedule for document authentication services:

  3. Marriage Certificate (Justice) D300
  4. Marriage Certificate (Justice)-ECOWAS D750
  5. Marriage Certificate (Justice) -Non-Gambian and Non-ECOWAS D1000
  6. Bachelor’s Degree D200
  7. Divorce Certificate D200
  8. Certificate of Character D200
  9. Police Report (lost document, etc.) D200
  10. National Identity Card D200
  11. Passport Copies D200
  12. Power of Attorney D200
  13. Academic (Education) Gratis (Free)
  14. Medical for Overseas Treatment Grati (Free)
  15. Medical for Traveling Purpose D200
  16. Residence Permit D200
  17. Death Certificate Gratis (Free)
  18. Affidavit D200
