Ahmed Gitteh, an ardent supporter of president Adama Barrow during the last presidential elections and a ferocious combatant in the internecine political battles, has vowed to contest for the Brikama Area Council Chairmanship; saying nothing can stop him from contesting for the seat.
“I have already written to my party (NPP) and I will submit my application this Wednesday coming. And I hope they will select me to be their Flag Bearer. There is nothing that can stop me from contesting. If NPP did not select me that will make things easier because it means they have shown me that they don’t want me,” Gitteh told King Fm radio on Monday.
He advised his supporters that he has not received money from the president to withdraw his intentions to contest;
“I am more dedicated to contesting today than yesterday. That’s why I came out yesterday to talk to my supporters to inform them that if I was dedicated to contesting yesterday a hundred percent, today it has increased to one hundred million. I did not run, the president has not given me any money and he will not give me money and he will not tell me not to contest. I have already promised people and I will fulfill the promise. I don’t know whether I will lose my life on the cause but I will tell everyone that I will run for this office and I will seek this mandate of Chairmanship from the people of West Coast,” he said.
The relationship between the NPP stalwart and his party leadership is described by many as rocky since his brawl with the first lady.
