Girls Outperform Boys In GEBECE 2022

More girls got aggregate 6 than boys did in the Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examination (GEBECE) 2022.

Of the 31 recorded across, 18 are girls and 13 are boys, as per the Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examination (GEBECE) 2022 results analysisby the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE).

Gambia Methodist Academy and Don Mcmath Foundation Upper Basic School top the list, each with 4 students with aggregate 6.

St. Therese’s Upper Basic School and SOS Hermann Gmeiner Upper Basic School, Anne Marie Rivier, Anne Marie Javouhey, Mansa Colley Bojang Upper Basic School, and Barra Upper Basic School followed, each with 2 students with aggregate 6.

Ndow’s Comprehensive Upper Basic School, Medina Serign Mass Basic Cycle School, 22nd July Academy, New Covenant Upper Basic School, Babylon Upper Basic School, Jamisa Upper Basic School, Yalding Upper Basic School, Living Children’s Academy Upper Basic School, Anne Grethe Basic Cycle School, St. Charles Lwanga Upper Basic School, and St. Peter’s Upper Basic School, each with a student with aggregate 6.

Nationally, 27 783 students registered for this year’s GEBECE, but 27 018 students sat at least 1 subject, 58.9% of whom are girls, the analysis stated.

The girls beat boys this time, unlike this year’s West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) when more boys had 5 credits or more, including Maths and English Language than girls.
