The Africa’s fastest 100m female athlete, Gina Bass has qualified to the 200m finals at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in England.
The Gambia and Africa’s Queen of track came third with a timing of 23:10 to qualify for the final.
In the heats on Tuesday, Bass finished 2nd with a timing of 22.87 seconds.
“Gina Bass into the women’s 200m finals with a timing of 23:10, giving her the best third-place qualifications,” GNOC confirmed in a statement on Friday.
Meanwhile, Wurie Njadoe could not qualify for the final, after finishing the 200m race with a timing of 23:95 which could give her place in the finals, alongside Gina.
