A windstorm in Central and Upper River Regions on Wednesday has killed 3 people, displaced several others.
Mama Kandeh, the leader of the Gambia Democratic Congress, has visited communities in Central River Region that were devastated by windstorm on Wednesday.

“We have come here to sympathise with the victims and render the help we can,” Kandeh told Kerr Fatou over the phone.
“Several compounds are destroyed here.”
The GDC leader who started his visit of the affected communities of the CRR on Thursday is expected to continue to Upper River Region on Saturday.
Kandeh was supposed to go on a nationwide tour when the storm hit. His party announced they were cancelling the political meetings and instead visited affected families.
Meanwhile, the two National Assembly members of the Peoples’ Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism from Wuli East and West have also visited their constituencies.
Veteran lawmaker Sedia Jatta from Wuli West and Suwaibou Touray from Wuli East have visited their constituencies.
Gambian leader Adama Barrow has also released a statement on Thursday expressing “solidarity with disaster victims in CRR and URR”.
“He (President Barrow) has been informed that volunteers of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) are currently conducting a detailed assessment of the affected households in the regions,” said the Presidency in a statement on the State House website.
“The President has called for the support of the general public, NGOs and philanthropists to complement that of government whilst a robust preparation for such incidences continues.”
The windstorm came at a time when farmers are anxiously waiting for the farming season to start.
