The Gambia Democratic Congress [GDC] has congratulated Gambian athletes at the Tokyo Olympics and called on the Government to prioritize athletics.

“The Gambia Democratic Congress congratulates these incredible and exceptional Olympians, young men, and women for their high level of performance during the games as they have demonstrated that we have the potential to compete at the highest level of international games. They are all great ambassadors of our country, particularly Gina Bass for breaking the national records.

“The leadership of the GDC wishes to urge the government and other supportive partners to equally invest and prioritize athletic games in the future as we look forward to other international competitions,” the party spokesperson Omar Ceesay said in a statement on Monday.

The Olympians- Gina Bass, Faye Njie, Ebrima Camara, and Ebrima Sorry Buaro with the Board, coaches, and management better represented The Gambia at the delayed games in Japan.
