Residents of the Central River Region (CRR) and Upper River Region (URR) in The Gambia were delighted by the sound of raindrops as the country experienced its first rainfall of the season. Eyewitnesses in these regions reported the long-awaited downpour to Kerr Fatou, marking the official start of the rainy season.
The rain, which began late Monday night, brought much-needed relief to farmers and communities in CRR and URR who have been eagerly awaiting the rains. This initial rainfall is seen as a positive sign for agricultural activities and the replenishment of water sources in these regions.
An eyewitness told Kerr Fatou, “The rain started after 10 PM and lasted for more than thirty minutes.”
Farmers in the Upper River Region and Central River Region are now preparing their fields for planting.
