The Gambia Police Force has announced that the Inspector General of Police, Abdoulie Sanyang, attended the official handover ceremony of President Adama Barrow’s one million dalasis bounty pledge at the Ministry of Interior on October 17, 2023.
The bounty is offered to anyone who provides information leading to the apprehension of the primary suspect in the Sukuta-Jabang Junction shooting incident, which resulted in the death of two police officers and left another in critical condition.
“This pledge is offered to anyone who provides information relevant to, or leads to the apprehension of, the primary suspect in the Sukuta-Jabang Junction shooting incident. This incident tragically resulted in the death of two police officers and left another in critical condition at the hospital,” the statement said.
The statement disclosed that the president was represented by the minister of interior at the handover ceremony.
“The handover ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Interior on behalf of the President. In attendance were the National Security Adviser, senior government officials, and senior police officers,”
President Barrow announced the bounty on September 12, 2023, during the course of the investigation into the shooting incident.
