Gambia’s Deputy Speaker to Address Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly On Tuesday.

The Deputy Speaker of the Gambia, Hon. Seedy Njie, is set to address the 149th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which began on Monday, 14th October 2024, according to a statement shared with Kerr Fatou.

“The 149th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union began today Monday 14th October 2024. Debate on this year’s theme which is Harnessing Science, Technology and Innovation for a more peaceful and sustainable future is in earnest.  I will take Gambia’s position rightly and expect to reiterate to the world “Under the leadership of H.E Adama Barrow as Chairman of O.I.C, Gambia’s concern for the ongoing conflicts around the world and her commitment to a peaceful solution of them -Africa and Middle East. I will highlight our commitment to upholding the rights of women and girls as well,” Hon. Njie said.

He added; “I will address the world’s largest and biggest Parliamentary gathering tomorrow Tuesday 15th October,2024.”

The official opening ceremony of the 149th IPU Assembly took place on October 14 in Geneva, where Hon. Njie is currently attending.
