Gambian Student Awarded Scholarship to Serbia

Ambassador Pa Omar Faal, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Serbia in The Gambia And Mr Sheikh Maline Mbye


The Serbian Consulate in The Gambia is pleased to announce that Mr Sheikh Maline Mbye, who graduated from Kotu Senior Secondary School in July 2022 has been awarded a scholarship for a four-year undergraduate degree under the ‘World of Serbia’ programme.  He will be studying at the University of Novi Sad, alongside the University of Belgrade, is one of the most important higher educational and research institutions in Serbia and South Eastern Europe. Mr Mbye arrived in Belgrade on 24th March 2023.

Ambassador Pa Omar Faal, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Serbia in The Gambia, who facilitated the scholarship congratulated Mr Mbye for being the first Gambian to be awarded a Serbian government scholarship, and advised him to be diligent and disciplined as he undertakes his studies in Serbia. Ambassador Faal indicated that negotiations are ongoing for more Gambian students to benefit from this annual scholarship scheme.
