Gambian diaspora donate to UDP members suffering health complications

Members of the Gambian diaspora in United States and Europe have donated D24, 000 to two members of the United Democratic Party for their treatment.

The money was given to Sukai Dahaba and Jugana Susso by Surahata Fatty, a member of the UDP who started the fundraising on Facebook.

The money was handed to the victims through Ousainou Darboe, the leader of the UDP, on Monday.

The money was meant for the medical expenditure of the two who were arrested during the 2016 crisis in Gambia that engulfed the UDP.

Over half of the UDP’s executive went to jail, with dozens of their supporters in 2016. The crisis was triggered by the death in jail of Solo Sandeng who was arrested by state agents on April 14 for protesting for proper electoral reforms.
