Gambia Police Force To Begin Nationwide Road Clearing Exercise

The Gambia Police Force has shared on their official Facebook page that they are set to commence a comprehensive road-clearing operation across the entire nation. This initiative will kick off in the greater Banjul area, in partnership with various road safety stakeholders, relevant ministries, and agencies, starting on October 19, 2023.

This undertaking encompasses the removal of both permanent and temporary structures and installations that violate regulations related to road safety and public order.

“The Gambia Police Force, in collaboration with stakeholders, including line ministries and agencies, will embark on nationwide road clearing, starting in the Greater Banjul Area, effective today, October 19, 2023.

“This initiative includes the demolition of permanent and temporary structures and installations that are in breach of the laws governing road safety and public order.” the statement reads

The statement went on to emphasize that this was “In response to the government’s press release titled ‘Special Security Operation on Illegal Encroachments,’ the public is respectfully urged to remove any illegally erected structures. Failure to do so will result in the enforcement of appropriate laws by the Gambia Police Force.”

The exercise will start on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 8 a.m.
