The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has dismissed Sergeant Lamin Gibba following allegations of gross misconduct and discreditable behavior at Lemon Creek Beach.
“The Gambia Police Force wishes to inform the public that Sergeant Lamin Gibba has been dismissed from the force following a thorough investigation into allegations of gross misconduct and discreditable behavior. The incident, which caused significant public concern, involved allegations that Sgt Gibba forced a couple to strip naked at Lemon Creek beach under the pretext of enforcing public decency. It was further alleged that he recorded the incident, blackmailed the victims for monetary gain, and threatened to release the footage if his demands were not met,” the police announced.
According to the GPF, after receiving a formal complaint from the victims, they swiftly arrested the officer and initiated a detailed investigation.
“Upon review, it was determined that Sgt Gibba’s actions were in violation of the Police Code of Conduct and Ethics. Consequently, he has been dismissed from the GPF with immediate effect. The GPF remains committed to upholding professionalism and accountability within the ranks, taking decisive action against misconduct to preserve public trust. We thank the public for their patience and understanding as we ensured due process was followed,” the statement added.
