The management of the Gambia Ferry Service has temporarily withdrawn both the Kanilai and Kunta Kinteh Ferries for essential maintenance. This suspension will remain in effect until further notice.
In an official statement, the Gambia Ferry Service Management informed their valued customers that the Kanilai Ferry is currently out of service due to necessary repair work. Additionally, both ferries are undergoing maintenance, resulting in the temporary cessation of ferry services along the Banjul and Barra route. During this period, travelers and vehicle operators are strongly advised to utilize the Senegambia Bridge as an alternative.
“The Gambia Ferry Service Management wishes to inform its esteemed customers that Kanilai Ferry is withdrawn from service for repair works with immediate effect. Please note that both ferries are currently under maintenance and there will be no ferry service across the Banjul and Barra route until further notice. Meanwhile, travelers and vehicular operators, in particular, are advised to use the Senegambia Bridge,” they said.
The GFS management team assured the public that they are diligently working to expedite the restoration of the Banjul-Barra ferry service. These repair efforts are aimed at enhancing safety and reliability for passengers.
“The understanding of the general public is highly solicited, as these repair works are geared towards providing safer and more reliable ferry services. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted; we thank you for your understanding,” they concluded.
