The Gambia’s men Beach Volleyball team defeated South Africa 2-0  to win the Commonwealth Games Beach Volleyball Africa qualifiers final.

The game was played at 3pm today in Accra, Ghana.

“We are champions of Africa. We are going to the Commonwealth Games.

Gambia beat South Africa 2-0 in the final of the Commonwealth Games beach volleyball qualifiers,” the Gambia Volleyball Federation said in a statement shortly after today’s game.

The victory has qualified the Gambia to represent Africa at the Commonwealth Games scheduled to take place in Birmingham later this year.

The Gambia earlier beat the host Ghana in the semifinals, before booking their place at today’s final.

The national beach volleyball teams (men and women) on Thursday morning departed for Ghana ahead of the Commonwealth Games Beach Volleyball qualifiers.

The men and women teams left the country for the games; but the women crashed out of the competition and the road to Birmingham 2022; after losing to Rwanda 2-0.
