The Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) of the National Assembly, on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, ordered the board and management of Kanifing General Hospital to re-appear before the committee to submit their activity report from 2010 to 2018.
Alhagie S. Darboe, the Chairperson of FPAC, conveyed this decision to the health officials and said that the committee could not accept the submission of the hospital financial statement from 2010 to 2018 without their activity report.
“We called off the meeting and reschedule Kanifing General Hospital as follows for the submission of the pending 2010 to 2018 activity reports on October 27, 2023, and the presentation of the said report on November 6, 2023, to be followed by the consideration stage on November 7, 2023,” Darboe said.
FPAC has taken these steps with the Kanifing General Hospital after the hospital failed to submit its activity reports for the years 2010 to 2018. Ousman Dampha, the chairperson of the hospital’s Board of Directors, told the committee that the reports could not be found because they were not at the hospital during that period.
“By that particular time from 2010 to 2018, all of us sitting here were not within that hospital by then, but we tried and did our level best to try to look into the files and archives, we were unfortunately unable to find any activity report,” Dampha told the Committee.
When the Chairman asked the new official about their efforts to obtain the report, they replied that their efforts were unsuccessful because their predecessors had failed to leave anything behind.
