Alasana Jammeh, the ambassador to Morocco who is also overseeing Tunisia, has reportedly bitten off the finger of his embassy’s welfare officer Bakary Jarju.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad has told Kerr Fatou that Alasana Jammeh who was accused of bitten off a finger of his welfare officer has not been recalled.
Alasana Jammeh, the ambassador to Morocco who is also overseeing Tunisia, has reportedly bitten off the finger of his embassy’s welfare officer Bakary Jarju.
Jammeh arrived in Gambia on Saturday.
The communication Officer at the ministry, Saikou Ceesay, said the Ministry cannot comment on the matter as consultations are ongoing to establish what exactly happened in Morocco.
Asked what prompted Ambassador Jammeh’s abrupt visit to the country during the weekend, he said that was part of the inquiry the Government is making to establish the truth.
“You and I know that the promise made by this Government is transparency and accountability. Therefore, whatever is the findings of the Government will be made known,” Ceesay said.
“If he were recalled, the ministry of foreign affairs would be aware.”
However, Ceesay said the incident is being investigated to establish the truth.
