Late Omar Samateh

The family of Omar Samateh has confirmed that the Gambia Police found his lifeless body near Coco Ocean. Omar had been missing since November 5, 2024.
A native of Tallinding Kunjang in Serrekunda East Constituency, Kanifing Municipality, Omar was last seen in Brusubi, where he had been staying at his brother’s home for several months before his disappearance. It had been two weeks since he was last reported at home.
“When Kerr Fatou shared the information, a police officer contacted us and said they had found a dead body near Coco Ocean last Wednesday that resembled Omar. When he sent me a picture, I confirmed it was him. The body is currently at the mortuary in Banjul. We still don’t know the cause of his death,” said his sister, Fatou Samateh.
His brother, Alieu Samateh, added, “I can confirm that the police found his body near Coco Ocean. While the cause of death is yet to be determined, we’ve seen the picture of the body and can confirm it is him.”
