On Monday, about a million worth of office equipment and valuables including paper records have gone up in flames at the Ministry of Fisheries.

The fire incident which was blamed on poor electrical wiring started at around 12 noon.

The Ministry’s deputy permanent secretary, Omar Gibba, told Kerr Fatou that the fire emanated from an electrical circuit.

Gibba said they have lost all their documents in the fire.

He also said they will have to write to their international partners to get back some of the papers which include treaties.

Gibba said it will cost the government millions to replace the damages, which include the building, computers, printers and many other office equipment.
