The National Assembly, one of the 3 arms of government, is crucial in a democratic process through its oversight, law-making, representation and resource allocation functions, among others.

While some candidates have received their acceptance letters from the electoral commission, the latest to submit their qualifications are expecting to hear from the commission the fate of their application in the coming days.

This time, unlike the presidential election nomination in 2021, candidates will not be rejected for falling short of documents required for the process prior to the deadline for the end of nomination; instead, they would be allowed to submit the outstanding details for consideration, latest 13th March.

Nomination continues today (Day 7) for independent candidates at the Independent Electoral Commission’ regional offices across the country; with at least 20 independent aspirants expected.
