Lawyer Ousainu Darbo, Secretary General and Party Leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has called on his party militants to be mindful of what they share on social media.

“I want to appeal to all our party militants, let’s respect each other, let’s be mindful of what we will put out on social media. You shouldn’t put everything on social media. Your serious discussion should not be put on social media because another person can pick it up and put it in another forum that you don’t want it to go to. I also want to assure all Gambians particularly UDP that this party under my leadership or under the leadership of anybody will never compromise the interest of the party. We will follow whatever the party is supposed to follow,” Darbo said.

The Secretary-General and Party Leader also urged his party supporters to seek clarification before talking about them on social media;

“I want to appeal to everyone not to just get up and talk without reasons to talk. Try and get clear information about any issue before you talk. And even you have clear information about an issue go and talk to the right people but don’t go to social media and say things that might be a mistake. And the damage has already been done. I want to assure you that, as long as this executive is in place up to 2026, there is nothing that this executive will do that will go against the interest of the party. We have come a long way and we cannot allow our sacrifices to go in vain,” he said.

Lawyer Ousainu Darbo, The leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) was talking at his party’s bureau in Manjai on Saturday when party supporters from the West Coast Region came to present their chairman-elect, Yankuba Darboe, and all their councilors who won during the just concluded local government elections.
