The Secretary General and leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has said that the Saturday’s National Assembly (NA) election ‘will determine’ the ‘future’ of The Gambia.

“With the National Assembly Elections scheduled for this Saturday, let’s all go and vote to register our civic duty as citizens of The Gambia. Vote massively for our UDP candidates so that we can reclaim our country from the clutches of the incompetence of the Barrow government; so that we can control the unbearable rising cost of living in the country; so that we can make sure the affairs of the nation are prioritised for the interest of the majority and not just for the connected few. We are at a crossroads and this NA elections will determine our future as a nation,” Lawyer Ousainu Darboe wrote on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

Lawyer Darboe is the Secretary General and party leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP).

His party lost the 2021 presidential election to President Adama Barrow’s National People’s Party (NPP).

However, the United Democratic Party won 31 seats in the 2017 National Assembly election, 8 of whom were expelled on allegation of shifting allegiance to President Barrow, a bitter rival to the party.
