Press Release: Banjul, The Gambia- As part of efforts to engage and seek the opinions of all Gambians both at home and abroad on the drafting of the new Constitution for The Gambia, the Constitutional Review Commission wishes to inform the Gambian public that the Commission has extended the deadline for submission of contributions, suggestions and position papers for the Constitution building process from the end of November to December 31st 2018.
The mandate of the CRC requires the CRC to consult with Gambians and other stakeholders to seek their opinions on what they aspire to see included in a new Constitution for The Gambia.
In that context, the CRC has developed an ‘Issues Document’ which raises specific issues to guide public considerations in the drafting of the new Constitution.
Responses may be provided in writing and addressed to the CRC at its headquarters at the Futurelec Building, Bertil Harding Highway, Kotu.
Persons may also submit by email to crcgambia@gmail.com and persons residing in the Administrative Regions who wish to submit written responses may do so through the CRC Regional Coordinators stationed at the Regional offices or by email.
Responses may also be made orally during the CRC face-to-face public consultations, which is currently ongoing.
Gambians in the Diaspora who wish to consider and respond to the issues may do so by either mailing their responses to the CRC at its headquarters or sending them by email to the CRC’s email address cited above.
There will also be the opportunity to share their opinions face-to-face with the CRC Commissioners in the countries and regions the Commissioners are expected to visit during the public consultation phase of their assignment.
