The health promotion and education officer for the Western 2 health region, Aminata Sallah has appealed to politicians and the media to help in the fight against COVID 19 pandemic in The Gambia.

“The Gambia belongs to all of us. But people can only vote when they are healthy. Must of the political leaders took the vaccine so they can use those testimonies and encourage their followers and supporters to tell  them that the vaccine is 95% efficient; because if you  take the vaccine even if you  happen to contract the virus, the severity will be very limited compared to the someone who never took the vaccine,” she appealed.

Sillah extended a similar appeal to the media, some of which she acknowledged are really helping the fight against the pandemic.

“We have media houses who are really helping us in the campaign to fight against the virus in the Gambian. But there are a few media houses who should be very mindful in what they publish or the type of people they invite on their platforms because some of them give out false information to the general public. And they should know that this virus (Covid-19) or the vaccine is not a problem only in the Gambians, but it’s a global problem. So we Gambians should come together and help in the fight against the virus,” Aminata said.

The health promotion and education officer for the Western 2 region made the plea recently at the Regional Health Directorate Officer in Brikama, in an interview with this medium.
