President Barrow’s cabinet approved the proposal for the increment of allowances for medical doctors and PhD holders within the Ministry of Health.
The document presented by the Minister of Health at the second cabinet meeting on Thursday seeks to bring in efficiency and synergy in the incentive packages within the Health sector.
“The difference in incentive packages offered by the different arms of the same Ministry, is a source of disincentive to strike the right balance in terms of moving the relevant high caliber staff around to serve where they are considered needed from time to time,” the Minister’s presentation argued.
With this development, the health sector is expected to match the incentive packages of its equivalents, as well as retain and attract highly qualified staff.
