A not-for-profit organization, Buzz Women Gambia commemorated the International Women’s Day (IWD) earlier Tuesday at Sukuta women’s garden.
The organisation with women gardeners conducted a clean-up exercise, tree planting, and sensitization on waste management.
Fatou Manneh, trainer at the organisation, demonstrated to the women gardeners the process of making a compost manure from the waste materials around them, which encourages organic farming and saves cost, and promotes good health for the consumer.
This year, Buzz Women Gambia celebrated the global event with the women it trained in Kafuta, Ndemban, Sukuta and Kuloro with focus on climate and environment.
Representatives of the beneficiary women groups expressed profound delight over the gesture, while saluting Buzz Women Gambia for the impacts it is making on their lives and livelihoods.
At the sideline of the day, Buzz provided six bags of rice to the women to help themselves with.
Buzz Women Gambia is an NGO driven by the goal to help women achieve financial freedom and mould them into leaders and inspiration to other women.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually across the globe in recognition of the contribution of women to the socio-economic advancement of the world.
