Senegalese opposition figure Ousmane Sonko has been granted a conditional bail earlier Monday upon his appearance in court for his trial.
The bail came after series of mediation efforts by the religious leaders in Senegal who said yesterday at a press conference that they had met with President Macky Sall on Ousmane’s case, and he (Macky) will do what they told him.
Although, Sonko is allowed to return home today, but the charges on his head still remain. As a result, he will be reporting to the tribunal regularly.
His legal team promised to continue the fight against the rape allegation and subsidiary charges against him.
