The Chief of Kombo South Lamin S. Darboe confirmed to Kerr Fatou that he has been dismissed.

“I received a call from the Governor of West Coast Region, Lamin Sanneh, that I am sacked from my position as the Chief of Kombo South. I didn’t receive the official sacking letter yet, but I am sure it is on the way coming here. But I will take it in good faith, even though I needed to rest,” Mr Darboe told this reporter in a telephone interview.

When asked whether he thinks his sacking is politically motivated, Mr Darboe responded in the affirmative.

“Of course, it is politically motivated because it is not about my competence. I am competent enough to run that office. So, if it is not politically motivated what else now?

Mr Darboe previously served as the Chief of Kombo South from 1983 to 1995, when he was removed by former President Yahya Jammeh; before his reinstatement by the current government in 2017.
