The Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Cadet ASP Modou Musa Sisawo, has officially confirmed to the Gambia Press Union that comedian Alagie Borra Sissawo is being held in custody at the Anti-Crime headquarters in Banjulinding.

The police spokesperson’s disclosure comes after Bora was held incommunicado for three days, without access to a lawyer or the ability to inform his family of his whereabouts.

“The Police PRO just told the GPU that Alagie Bora Sisawo is detained at the Anti-Crime Headquarters in Banjulinding. He couldn’t say exactly why his bail was revoked and couldn’t confirm either if he has been charged or whether charges will be brought against him,” the GPU said.

While on police bail, Sisawo remained under investigation, according to the police spokesperson. The GPU urges the police to immediately grant Sisawo access to his attorney and family and to release him from detention unconditionally and without delay.

“The GPU calls on the Police to immediately allow Sisawo access to his lawyer and family and ensure his immediate and unconditional release from detention.”
