Benz & BMA FC Slam With 5 Years Suspension

Brikama Sport Committee [BSC] has suspended Benz & BMA FC for 5 years after physically assaulting match officials during their game against Santo Su United FC.

Acting in accordance with the BSC rules of regulations Article: 19 [e], BSC also fined Benz & BMA Football Club with D25, 000, for the incident at SSP in Brikama on 19th August.

Aside from the 5-year suspension on the team for the improper conduct, the registered players, Head coach, trainer and two team officials also got their individual slices of the punishment.

“Benz & BMA Fc is suspended for five years with a fine of D25, 000, excluding the registration fee, if the team intends to play in the BSC competition upon completing its suspension.

“The whole registered players of Benz & BMA FC are suspended for one year and more, not more than three players are allowed to play for a team, after completing their suspension.

“Modou Touray alias Pa Sarr, Sedia Sallah, and Siaka Jadama (BENZ &BMA FC team officials) are all suspended for three years including this ongoing season.

 “Alpha Bah alias Mountain (Head coach) and Abdou Jallow alias Galleh (Trainer) are suspended for five years, including this ongoing season and also banned from entering and participating in any BSC organized programs and competitions” the committee said in a statement dated 22nd August, obtained by this medium.

According to the match commissioner’s report cited in the statement, the assault on the match officials began after one of BENZ & BMA FC players was sent off for what the referee deemed as an improper conduct in their match against Santo -Su United Fc 19th August 2021, in the 73rd minute.

The report added that the said player refused to leave the field and started physically assaulting the referee, and then the rest of other players, officials and fans of BENZ &BMA FC invaded the field, to beat up the referees and one of the BSC Committee Members.

A footage of the said incident went viral on social media and the match officials were being chased, kicked and beaten up by people later identified by BSC as Benz & BMA FC players, fans and officials.
