A bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of Abdul Kamara, also known as Ramadan, the prime suspect in the Brufut Heights murder case.
Principal Magistrate Krubally granted the warrant following a request from the police, underscoring the urgency of apprehending the fugitive.
Appearing before the Banjul Magistrate Court, Police Sub-Inspector Sarr presented compelling evidence implicating Kamara in the homicide that occurred on March 10, 2025. Inspector Sarr informed the court that Kamara had fled the country and remains at large, with investigators exploring all avenues to secure his arrest.
“Abdul Kamara, a Sierra Leonean national, is the prime suspect in this serious murder case. Our Interpol Office in Banjul has received credible intelligence confirming that he has returned to Sierra Leone. We have engaged with Sierra Leonean Interpol, who require a formal bench warrant to facilitate his arrest and extradition to The Gambia,” Inspector Sarr stated.
Inspector Sarr urged the court to grant the warrant, emphasizing its necessity in enabling Interpol in Sierra Leone to capture Kamara and ensure he faces justice in The Gambia.
After reviewing the evidence and the prosecution’s request, Magistrate Krubally acknowledged the severity of the charge and the need for swift action.
“The court finds the prosecution’s application for a bench warrant both justified and necessary. Therefore, the bench warrant is hereby granted as requested,” Magistrate Krubally ruled.
He further ordered that Abdul Kamara, also known as Ramadan, be apprehended by Interpol officers in Sierra Leone and handed over to Gambian authorities to face the serious allegations against him.
