The Basse Area Council laid the foundation stone of Song Kunda, Samba Lolo and Baja Kunda Bridges on Wednesday.

The construction of the three infrastructures, which began on Wednesday in the Upper River Region are projects funded by the Council.

The Chairman of Basse Area Council Foday Danjo said the road projects are key to the socioeconomic development of the people in the region.

“Access to roads for patients, students and other people is key in socioeconomic development, and this can enhance the flow of business service in this sub region where Upper River Region is situated as a hotspot to many Nationals in Western Africa.

We at Basse Area Council believe in collective responsibility and efforts in combating the problems of our taxpayers,” he said in a statement.

Chairman Danjo expressed hope that the contractors would do quality work in return for the value of taxpayers’ money.

The historic event was attended by local government stakeholders, regional stakeholders, and council staff, among others.

The Council about a month ago approved the five projects- the construction of Sabi -Samba Lolo Bridge; Baja Kunda Bridge; Song Kunda Bridge as well as Basse Manneh Kunda concrete and Sare Manson -Sare Bojo gravel roads.
