President Adama Barrow has called on political leaders, civil society organizations (CSOs), activists, and Gambians across all sectors to collaborate with his government in building a prosperous and united Gambia.

Speaking on Saturday at the National People’s Party’s (NPP) second National Congress in Jarra Soma, the president urged NPP supporters to work diligently in bringing all Gambians under the party’s umbrella.

“Focusing on 2026, we need to be more determined, more involved in the affairs of the Party, and work harder to bring every Gambian on board. Within this spirit, I invite all Party leaders, activists, civil society organizations, the private sector, and every Gambian to work with us for a better Gambia,” He Said.

President Barrow emphasized the need for ethics, discipline, and unity within the party, urging members to avoid divisiveness.

“As we move forward, I call on all of you to uphold the principles of tolerance and demonstrate exemplary discipline within our ranks. Let us reject division and remain faithful in our commitment to unity and progress,”

The president also addressed the negative impact of divisive politics and inflammatory commentary on social media.

“For now, we must rise above unethical behavior, divisive political tactics, and malicious commentaries and articles, especially on social media. Let us reject propaganda that incites hate, violence, and disunity. Instead, let us champion a culture of dialogue, respect, and solidarity,” He Said.

Barrow highlighted the government’s responsibility to lead by example and drive national development through transformative economic policies.

“As the Party in government, we have a solemn responsibility to lead by example. To overcome hunger, drive national progress, and compete on the global stage, we must embrace a transformative shift toward building a robust economy. This requires aligning our actions with the noble ideals in our Party Manifesto and our philosophy of “Yirrwaa” – Progress!”

The president concluded by expressing confidence in the NPP’s ability to tackle challenges and fulfill the expectations of Gambians.

“Guided by our shared values and unity in purpose, I am confident that we will face all challenges successfully. All we need to do is to march forward with determination while renewing our commitment to those who have entrusted us with the sacred duty of leadership,” he affirmed.
