At meetings in Kerewan and Njaaba Kunda in Lower and Central Baddibou respectively, Touray said Barrow government has a comprehensive long term solution to the struggling state of health care in some parts of the country.
According to the official Facebook page of the presidency, healthcare was a dominant theme on day 2 of the ongoing nationwide tour of President Adama Barrow.
From Kerewan to Njaaba Kunda, speaker after speaker lamented the debilitating condition of primary health care in the region.
Unveiling what she called the Marshall Plan of Health Care, Dr. Touray said the plan would guide government to completely overhaul the healthcare system of the country by equipping all health facilities with adequate manpower and resources to serve the people.
Under the plan, she revealed, all health facilities in the country would be manned by at least more than one personnel.
She praised health workers as compassionate, hardworking and promised that they would no more be forgotten under her watch.
The Health Minister further stated that health care constitutes 40% of projects under the National Development Plan (NDP) 2018-2021 while indicating the value that the Barrow government attaches to the wellbeing of Gambians.
She told cheering crowds in Njaaba Kunda and Kerewan that the President has fully empowered her and vowed to support her in the drive to transform healthcare landscape.
On his part, the President reiterated the mantra of national reconciliation and unity and social cohesion. He stressed that politics of rhetoric should be long gone with the end of the electoral circle after the Mayoral election.
