APRC distances itself from an attack on GRTS crew

The former ruling party whose supporters were reported to have attacked the camera crew of the Gambia Radio and Television Services has distanced itself from the act.

The Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction party said in a statement on Sunday that their party does not tolerate that level of indiscipline within its ranks.

“The National Executive Committee under the leadership of Alhagie Honourable Fabakary Tombong Jatta vehemently condemned this unfortunate action and dissociates itself completely,” APRC stated.

“In the circumstances we sincerely apologise to the management and staff of the GRTS for this regrettable action. We are discipline party that does not condone indiscipline in any form, and call on all party members to conform to the noble values we are always known for.”

Since the attack on the camera crew of the state broadcaster, several organization and individuals have denounced the act, calling it an attack on press freedom.
