Journalism trainers from Aljazeera Media Institute in Doha have arrived in Banjul on Sunday morning and as part of a 5-day engagement in the country.
The idea behind these engagements is to find ways of strengthening the Gambian media for the 2019 summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
The two journalism trainers have visited the secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Ministry of Information and the Gambia Press Union.
On Wednesday, the secretariat and the board of the GPU held meeting with Montaser Marai, manager of media development at the Aljazeera Media Institute, and Fayed Abushammalah on issues affecting the media in the country.
The two later went to the Media Academy for Journalism and Communication where they held lecture on ‘fake news, digital media and citizen journalism – the Aljazeera perspective’.
