Independent candidate Ahmad Gitteh has accused President Adama Barrow of being a hypocrite and a betrayer. Gitteh, who is running for the upcoming Brikama Area Council Chairmanship election, made the accusations during a campaign meeting in Foni Block on Tuesday.
“We, the residents of the West Coast, are the ones who campaigned for President Adama Barrow. We went to our mothers and other people and told them to vote for him. We are the reason he was elected. Now, he is showing us (‘your good sons’) envy, betrayal, and hypocrisy. You, the people, will be the judges. We have left everything in your hands.” Gitteh said.
The independent candidate has pledged to resolve the ECOMIG issues in Foni through dialogue if elected as the next chairman of the Brikama Area Council (BAC).
“I would like to add that Foni is just as important as any other part of The Gambia. However, some children in Foni are not able to go to school because of the ECOMIG soldiers, who are from Senegal. These soldiers are threatening the children, and we will talk to them when we arrive. We will explain to them that The Gambia and Senegal are equal, but we will not compromise the future of our children.” he said.
Ahmed Gitteh was among the people who campaigned for President Barrow for his reelection in 2021.
